Pro Bono Jetpack
The Strategy Jetpack is $30,000 worth of pro bono strategy services we’re giving to a purpose driven organization in the Chicagoland area. This grant is available to 501(c)(3)s, Certified B Corps, L3Cs, or companies that are current participants or alumni of a social enterprise accelerator (e.g. Impact Engine).
Why We Are Doing This
We believe business should be a force for good. As a B Corp, our business model has been designed so that regardless of the work we do, there is a community benefit. The cornerstone of our giving back model is our annual pro bono work – giving away our services to a purposeful organization. This year we are formalizing our approach, creating an official grant called the Strategy Jetpack. By helping wonderful organizations increase their impact, we can do out part to make the world a better place.
Strategy That Makes a Difference
We believe that marketing initiatives are more effective if they are grounded in a clear mission and strong strategic foundation.
For Purpose Driven Organizations
We believe that many types of organizations can make the world a better place, including non profits, B Corps, LC3s and other types of social enterprises. So, if your organization wants to make the world better, we want to help you succeed.

How do I know that the services you offer will solve the issues my organization faces?
Part of the grant application is letting us know what strategic challenges your organization faces. If you have an issue that is listed on the application, apply! If you have a strategic issue that is not listed on the application, feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org and we can let you know if completing the application makes sense for you.
What type of services do you offer?
We are a marketing consulting firm that has tackled a variety of strategic challenges for clients. You can visit our Services Page for a full list of our services. All of our client projects are tailor made to to the specific needs of each client.
Will the services you provide be any different from full paying clients?
Pro Bono marketing strategy services of the highest caliber given away for free? What’s not to love? If you’re not sure, take a look at what our former clients have to say.
The only difference in the work is that the grant is limited to $25,000 worth of services. What this means is that if your organization receives the grant, we’ll collaborate with you to develop a project that fits the needs of your organization within the $25K value. We do not charge by the hour.
Why are you doing this?
Giving back to the community is built into our DNA as a company and as a Certified B Corp. We have been doing pro bono work in the Chicago community since our founding in 2009.
We don’t think its fair that great organizations don’t have access to top strategic advisors simply because they don’t have the marketing budget of large organizations. So, smaller organizations tend to get the quality of advice they can afford, not the quality of advice they deserve. We aim to change that.
What is your track record with clients?
You can take a look at our case studies and client testimonials on our website. We’re very proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish for clients in the past.
Why is the Strategy Jetpack only open to Chicago area organizations?
Part of our aim with this grant is to benefit our local community through our services. As a small business in Chicago, we hope that the organization we work with through this grant will be able to increase their impact in our community.
How difficult is the application?
We have tried to keep the application as simple and straightforward as possible, so that we can determine which organization would benefit most from our strategy services without wasting anyone’s time.
The application is approximately ten questions plus logistical information and contact information. It shouldn’t take more than an hour to complete.
When is the application due?
The final submission deadline is April 29th, 2016.
How does the selection process work?
After you submit your application it’ll be reviewed by the Compass(x) Team. We will be following up with up to four finalists by phone the week of May 26th to schedule some time to chat in person. We will announce the grant recipient by the end of May 2015.
Our criteria for selecting the grant recipient include:
– Which organization has a challenge that can be met with the services that we offer
– Which organization will benefit the most from our services
– Which organization will have the greatest positive impact on the Chicago community as a result of our work
